Black Girl Festival: Women in Media Panel

Catch Siana THIS Sunday (29th October 2017) at the UK’s first one-day festival celebrating  Black British girls and women. From 15.30 to 16.20, Siana will be on a panel chaired by Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, the co-founder & executive director of UK Black Pride. Other panellists include: Gena-mour Barrett, staff writer at Buzzfeed; Sian Anderson, BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ and music journalist; Kuchenga, writer, black trans feminist & activist; and Kelechi Okafor, actress, personal trainer & instructor of pole dance.

Siana Bangura

Siana Bangura is a writer, poet, performer and producer hailing from South East London. She is the author of critically acclaimed debut collection, 'Elephant', a book of poetry meditating on Black British womanhood and life growing up in London and the founder and former editor of No Fly on the WALL. Siana is the producer of '1500 & Counting', a documentary film investigating deaths in custody in the UK. With experience in indie publishing, journalism, and campaigns under her belt, Siana’s wide portfolio of work focuses on bringing voices on the margins to the centre.
