Cast Your Votes!

It’s always wonderful when your hard work is recognised and your grind is celebrated. The good people of Nu People Magazine and Hustle and Heels Ladies Lunch UK have nominated Siana for their 2016 ‘Inspire’ Award. Voting is now open – cast your votes HERE!

Siana Bangura is a writer, blogger, poet, performer and freelance journalist. She is the founder of Black British Feminist platform, No Fly on the WALL, centring the voices of Black British women and Black women living in the UK, and providing safe spaces in which marginalised voices can connect, network, reflect, and (un)learn together. Over the last three years she has built an online and offline community of changemakers and has become a recogniseable voice on race and gender issues in Britain today.

Siana is the author of ‘Elephant’, her debut collection of poetry confronting questions of identity, Black Britishness, migration, immigration, Black womanhood, family, loss, love, gentrification and more. She is also the founder of radical independent publishing house, Haus of Liberated Reading – a home for voices often underrepresented in the publishing world and literary spaces

Siana is the producer of upcoming film, ‘1500 and Counting’, investigating police brutality in the UK and deaths in state custody and is also a seasoned public speaker, social critic, and a History graduate of the University of Cambridge. She has been noted for her unapologetic commentary on the intersection between race and gender in  Britain and across the diaspora and how this affects the lives of Black British women in particular and society at large.

Voting is now open and closes on November 28th. Listed among other inspirational Black British women working to inspire, the category is strong and every vote counts! CAST YOUR VOTES HERE and spread the word!
